Walks around and about

Walks around Mendlesham

Welcome to our webpage. The dates for our walks and many others in the area are listed on the Babergh and Mid Suffolk websites as part of the Year of Walking. You can download a leaflet or pick up from the Stowmarket Tourist Office or from the walk leader.

The 3 main Mendlesham Walks can be viewed by clicking on the links below. The notes include photos, references to the legal definitions of relevant rights of way and comments on issues of access and signage.  We have a direct link with the SCC Rights of Way Officer and there is an ongoing plan for maintaining  signposts and way markers.  If you see any problems with the routes e.g. blockage, overgrown, signposts and waymakers missing or fallen, please contact Judith Howard-Rees or a member of the Parish Council.

We now have an additional walk around the village of Mendlesham, giving some historical facts and stories about village life over the years. If you have any interesting stories about Mendlesham, contact Judith so that they can be added.  (Printed details are not yet available)

Please do join us on one of the walks. Dogs and Children (with a responsible Human Adult!) are all welcome. You will be asked to read our Information and Disclaimer leaflet when you join us for the first time. Click Here to view in advance.

2016 Walks will take place on:

Saturdays   09 January 06 Februay  05 March 02 April 07 May 04 June 02 July 06 August 03 September

We leave the Community Centre (where you can park your car) at 10.30am each time and there is an opportunity to enjoy refreshment at the end, either at The Kings Head (will need to book for soup and sandwiches in advance) or the Internet Café which is open on the first Saturday of the month. If you fancy organising a picnic in your own back garden during the summer months - we would love to attend!

If you are interested in participating in one of the Villager Led Walks or would like to lead a walk yourself, please contact mendleshamwalks@gmail.com or ring Judith on 01449 766327 or just turn up on the day!
